New bus routing for EJES and EJMS starts Thursday, Sept. 21

Good news! We are adding a total of four new bus routes for East Jackson Elementary School and eight for East Jackson Middle School.

The reconfiguration of routes will affect all EJES routes and some at EJMS (primarily those of students who are in the EJES zone); the changes are intended to reduce the time children spend on buses and balance busloads.

New routes will begin Thursday morning, Sept. 21; EJES students should be AT their bus stops at 6:15 a.m. and EJMS students should be AT their bus stops at 7:10 a.m. that day (sort of like a second “first day of school”).

Some things to keep in mind:

  • The times for each stop will be more closely determined as the routes settle down, and the bus driver will be the most accurate source of information. Please ask your children to listen closely for the information the driver provides.
  • Stops will be dropped for those students who do not ride the bus for three days in a row. To reinstate a stop, parents simply need to call their children’s school(s) and let staff know the student will be riding the next day..
  • More detailed information is being sent home with the students affected by the changes, and calls and emails will be sent with the contact information we have in Infinite Campus (please check to be sure your information is up to date and contact your child’s school to make changes).

If you have ANY questions or concerns, please CONTACT YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL.

Thank you for your patience and persistence as we have worked through the increases in enrollment and ridership. We are on the way to a better experience for our students and families, our schools and our drivers!

Additional changes will be announced as we are able to add more drivers and buses to our east side routes.
