Dear Students, Parents, and Jackson County Community,
Welcome to the Empower College and Career Center! EmpowerC3 is a unique partnership between Jackson County Schools, Commerce City Schools, Foothills Charter School, Lanier Technical College, the University of North Georgia, and most importantly the Jackson County business and industry community designed to change the overall student experience of our participants. To ensure a viable future workforce for our community, it is our responsibility to transform the way that we prepare the next generation workforce for all of the opportunities within our county and the surrounding region.
The mission of Empower is empowering learners for success in an ever-changing world.
Students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade have the opportunity to engage in truly remarkable learning experiences while developing the necessary professional skills to be successful in life after high school. These experiences will help students make more informed decisions regarding their paths after graduation (whether that includes enrolling in a 4-year college or university, a 2-year technical school, an apprenticeship program, the military, or even directly into the workforce). In addition, students will be able to earn stackable credentials and participate in a variety of work-based learning opportunities to assist them in their journey to finding their true passions and careers
It is our mission here at Empower to ensure that all students who walk through our doors are college AND career-ready upon graduation from high school. This looks different for each student so we must strive to challenge each one to grow in his or her academic abilities and develop the appropriate professional and technical skills necessary to be successful in whatever post-secondary path their choices lead them.
However, we cannot do this alone! We need strategic partnerships with business and industry that go well beyond the traditional partners in an education program. To create this unique learning environment, we need the investments of time, talents, energy, equipment, and capital funds from our partners to create technically relevant and project based learning experiences for our students. In return, Empower College and Career Center will commit to changing the student educational experience; provide for multiple opportunities for students to earn workplace recognized credentials; incorporate the professional skills development (work ethic, communication, problem-solving, grit, etc.) in our students; and bring awareness to the amazing career opportunities throughout our community and surrounding region to better prepare the workforce of tomorrow.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Empower College and Career Center. We look forward to serving your students or partnering with you to prepare the future workforce for Jackson County. Should you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to partnering with you in the education of our future!
Sincerely,
John Uesseler
