Hello, MES School Community!  I have been blessed to call Maysville Elementary my school home for the past six years and consider it an honor to serve the wonderful children and families in our community.  MES is an amazing place where I find joy each and every day!  Before becoming principal at MES, I joined Jackson County as the assistant principal at West Jackson Primary School where I happily supported the teaching and learning of young students for 4 years.  Prior to becoming an administrator in JCSS, I had the privilege of working with K-5 students as a classroom teacher, remedial support teacher, and interventionist in Richmond, Houston, and Gwinnett counties for 18 years.  I have also worked with adult learners while serving as a graduate professor in Concordia University’s online Master’s of Education program.  I have come to understand that it is critical that we involve our students in co-authoring their journey as a learner, regardless of age or grade!

I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a teacher and am so happy to have the opportunity to help others learn and grow at all levels!  After graduating high school, I immediately began working to obtain my bachelor’s and master’s degree in elementary education at Augusta State University.  I continued my professional study at Walden University and earned my specialist’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership.  As both a teacher and learner, I recognize the vital importance of building relationships with those that you serve and support. We must also recognize and support the needs of the whole learner to optimize growth and achieve our goals.  Our goal at MES is to create opportunities for extraordinary learning outcomes in supportive, meaningful ways for each and every child.  We strive for our school to be a place where every person who walks through our doors believes they are about to have an amazing experience and we invite you to be a part of that journey! #amazingmaysville

I am beginning my 22nd year in education and my 7th year at MES! I earned my bachelors in Education from Jacksonville State University, my masters in leadership from Jacksonville State University, and my Ed.S in Leadership from Auburn University. I was in Northeast Alabama as a teacher and administrator for 15 years before moving to Jackson County. I have been married for 21 years to Matt Grogan. We have two children, Walker (13) and Laynee (11), one dog, and two ferrets. I enjoy being outside. I love to zip line, hike, kayak, and go to Disney World. MES is my happy place and my goal is that each parent and child see this school as their best days ever!
