School Start & End Times
The Jackson County School System has announced approved start and end times for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. The start and end times will reflect the same start and end times used during the 2022-23 school year, with one exception being made at East Jackson Middle School.
To become more efficient in the transportation of secondary-aged students on the east side, JCSS district and school-level administration determined it was in the best interest of students to combine transportation routes for middle and high school students at East Jackson Middle School and East Jackson Comprehensive High School. The combining of routes will shorten transportation route times for those students.
As a result, East Jackson Middle School's start and end times will mirror the start and end times for both EJCHS and Jackson County High School. Classes will begin at 8 a.m., with dismissal beginning at 3:05 p.m.
All other start and end times for the 2023-24 school year will remain the same as the previous school year. Elementary schools will begin at 7:40 a.m., with dismissal beginning at 2:35 p.m. Legacy Knoll Middle School and West Jackson Middle School will begin at 8:45 a.m., with dismissal beginning at 3:45 p.m.
The Empower College and Career Center will begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at 2:40 p.m.
JCSS administration determined these start and end times after receiving feedback from students, staff and stakeholders.
