2025 Summer Learning
At Jackson County School System, we believe learning doesn't stop when the school year ends—it just gets more flexible and fun! This summer, we’re inviting all students to join our Summer Reading adventure—a relaxed, no-pressure opportunity to explore exciting books, grow your imagination, and even win cool prizes!
Here’s the deal: No required reading. No assigned books. Just pick up something you love and read, read, read!
Why join in? Research shows that reading over the summer helps students boost vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and avoid the “summer slide.” In fact, even just 20 minutes of reading a day can expose readers to millions of words each year and significantly improve academic success.
So grab a book, your favorite cozy reading spot, and let your summer adventure begin!

High:
Read what you want. Win what you love.
This isn’t your typical summer reading. No reading logs. No book reports. No tests. Just real stories, real choices—and real prizes.
Each week, we’ll highlight a featured book and share simple ways to read or listen however you like—whether it’s on SORA, at your local library, or even through a great podcast.
Here’s how it works:
- Watch our high school StudentSquare, social media, and web page announcement posts each week for the recommended book and literacy spotlight.
- Read or listen to something each week.
- Fill out a quick Google Form to check in (shared with you in StudentSquare).
- You’re automatically entered to win that week’s prize
- We will announce one winner on Friday each week. If you are the lucky winner, stop by your high school's front office to claim your prize!
Whether you're into fantasy, thrillers, graphic novels, romance, or true crime, this is your chance to read what you enjoy—and maybe score some cool prizes along the way.
This isn’t your average summer reading. It’s better.
