The Jackson County School System currently has two General Obligation Bonds in which it is paying off. The first bond is from 2006, with the second bond coming in 2019. The 2006 Bond will be paid off in March of 2025.
The following is a list of projects for the proposed 2025 bond and completed with previous G.O. Bond financing, along with FAQs regarding G.O. Bonds.
Projects For
Proposed 2025 G.O. Bond — $200,000,000
- In addition to the proposed General Obligation Bond to fund new construction, the Jackson County School System will utilize State Capital Outlay funding to help with the cost of proposed construction plans.
- Construction of new Pre-K through 12th grade facility on Highway 332 & Boone Road property. This will include a new elementary school, new middle school and new high school.
- Facility upgrades to East Jackson Middle School
- Construction of the rebuild of North Jackson Elementary School
- Facility upgrades to all JCSS schools
2005 Bond — $70,000,000
- Construction of East Jackson High School
- Construction of Gum Springs Elementary School
- Construction of current South Jackson Elementary School
- Scheduled to be paid off in March 2025
2019 Bond — $52,660,000
- Construction rebuild of Jackson County High School at its current Hoschton location
