The Jackson County School System saw an increase in scores from the End of Grade testing conducted at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. The State of Georgia released the scores Friday.
Students take Georgia Milestones End of Grade tests in grades three through eight and End of Course tests in four high school courses.
School and district-leaders from within the Jackson County School System visited local industry leaders from Jackson County during a leadership retreat on Friday, June 9.
The retreat started Friday morning with 74 leaders visiting six industrial leaders. The goal of the retreat was for leaders to gain a better understanding of the industry located in Jackson County and the opportunities that are available after graduation for the over 10,000 students within the Jackson County School System.
JEFFERSON — Dr. Jennifer Hartwell was approved as the new assistant principal at Gum Springs Elementary School during a Thursday night Board of Education work session.
Dr. Hartwell will join the administrative team under the direction of new principal Joshua Todd, who was approved in May.
COMMERCE — East Jackson Elementary School has been selected to receive the 2023 SSTAGE Star Award for Promising Practices at the elementary school level.
The award is presented by the Student Support Team Association of Georgia Educators (SSTAGE) and noted EJES’ enthusiasm, team collaboration, dedication and understanding of the Multi-Tiered Support System, noting the school will be an inspiration to educational leaders and teachers across the state of Georgia.
JEFFERSON — The Jackson County School System Board of Education approved the hires and internal movements of several positions at the school and district level during Monday night’s meeting.
The Board approved the hires of assistant principal positions at East Jackson Comprehensive High School, Empower College and Career Center, Legacy Knoll Middle School, and Jackson County High School, while also approving personnel for district-level positions.
JEFFERSON — The Jackson County School System Board of Education approved Joshua Todd as the new principal of Gum Springs Elementary School on Thursday night.
Todd is a current assistant principal at Jackson County High School.
HOSCHTON — Melissa Gillespie was approved by the Jackson County School System Board of Education Monday evening to become the newest principal of Jackson County High School.
Gillespie will begin her new role within the school this summer. She currently serves as an assistant principal at JCHS.
