From the Superintendent: Welcome Back, Student and Teachers!

Dear Jackson County Families!

We are so excited to welcome our students and teachers back to launch an amazing year at each of our Jackson County schools! We all learned a great deal over the past year, and we are more committed than ever to ensuring our students are engaged in remarkable learning experiences. Over the summer, school and district leaders worked hard to prepare for a great school year, beginning with an open house.

We are absolutely committed to student performance through personalization. We’re preparing our students for the future and will continue our focus on The 7 Mindsets: Everything is Possible, Passion First, We are Connected, 100% Accountable, Attitude of Gratitude, Live to Give, and The Time is Now! We encourage you to talk with your children about these mindsets and how they build character and academic achievement!

In addition to preparing for remarkable learning experiences, our district is gearing up for record-breaking growth in our community. We are thrilled to launch the Empower College and Career Center located on the former Jackson County Comprehensive High School Campus. Here, students from both of our high schools will have the opportunity to enroll in college coursework and industry-focused pathways to prepare our students for future educational and professional opportunities. We are also celebrating the opening of the new Jackson County High School where students will find a unique collegiate-type environment with state-of-the-art academic, fine arts, and athletic facilities. East Jackson High School has a newly resurfaced parking lot, along with some interior flooring and painting upgrades. Across our schools and community, you will see additional enhancements including a new outdoor classroom facility at EJES, fresh paint and flooring at SJES and WJES, and a new parking lot at WJMS. With our growth comes the need for additional temporary classroom space through mobile learning cottages at WJES, NJES, GSES, and WJMS. You will soon see a new school next to the new Jackson County High School. To accommodate for growth, the Jackson County Board of Education is also actively securing additional property and planning for future schools.

Also, we have been actively monitoring state and federal guidelines regarding COVID. Please view the attachment to see our guidance for a new school year.

It is an exciting time to be a part of the Jackson County community. We look forward to seeing the smiling faces of our students; they are the reason we are here. They bring energy to our campuses and hope for all of us. Thank you for your partnership now and throughout the school year.
