Jenica Johnson was named principal at North Jackson Elementary School when the Jackson County Board of Education met Monday night, June 10, 2019.

“She was selected among four excellent candidates, and she is going to serve with passion and commitment,” said Dr. April Howard, JCSS superintendent.

Ms. Johnson most recently served as Principal at Lavonia Elementary School.

“We look forward to working with her as she continues the wonderful traditions at NJES,” Dr. Howard said.

Teresa Strickland, who announced her retirement last month, will be with NJES until the end of June,  and she will be working with Ms. Johnson to ensure a smooth transition.

NJES will host a meet and greet for the community in mid-July to welcome her and allow everyone to get to know her.

“I want to extend a very special thank you to Ms. Strickland for her outstanding leadership and commitment to NJES,” Dr. April Howard said. “She has served the community during two different seasons and has continuously demonstrated a commitment to the children and families.

“We are forever grateful for her service and wish her the very best as she enters retirement and the next chapter of life!”
