Student Chefs Develop New School Lunch Menu Option

Grady Newsource at the University of Georgia produced this story on Feb. 22, 2019, about Jackson County Comprehensive High School students who second place in the state Farm to School, Shake It Up Student Chef competition. West Jackson Middle School FFA takes its second national championship
November 2017

“That high level of participation and the focus on agricultural education has made West Jackson one of the country’s top FFA chapters. The school recently won top honors as the 2017 Middle School Model of Excellence at the national convention in Indianapolis. The school captured similar honors in 2015 and was a top-five finalist in 2013, 2014 and 2016.”

UGA researchers to improve STEM instruction in elementary classrooms
September 2017

“The research team, which includes four investigators in the College of Education, is collaborating with the Jackson County School District during the 2018 spring semester to provide professional development for a group of elementary school teachers enrolled in a robotics for teachers course designed by Roger Hill, a professor in the College of Education’s department of career and information studies and a co-principal investigator of the project.”
