The Jackson County School System Technology department is dedicated to supporting the effective integration of technology into all aspects of teaching, learning, and school administration.
Technology is an integral part of educating our students in the 21st century. The goal of the JCSS Technology Department is to prepare students for the modern world. Technological tools are vital to this process. We want students to have access to real-world tools in order to gain the technology skills needed to become life-long learners.
As part of the district’s 1:1 initiative, which seeks to make a device available for each of our third- through 12th-grade students, we already have purchased 1,500 Chromebooks for students, giving us a total of 4,500. The initial round of purchases should be complete during the the 2019-20 school year, with replacements of approximately one-fourth of the devices annually.
Technology is a tool for both teachers and students. In 2017-18, we purchased new laptops for middle and high school teachers. We will provide new laptops to elementary school teachers in 2018, anticipating delivery before the start of the 2018-2019 school year.
We will be installing new projectors in all middle and high school classrooms soon, allowing for wireless connectivity. This will foster a classroom environment conducive to innovation and collaboration. Our goal is to have all classrooms updated with new projectors by the end of the 2018-19 school year.
Finally, customer service and support are a critical part of the JCSS Technology Department. Our goal is to provide quick and effective resolutions to problems that arise.
