Dr. Allison Approved As New Assistant Principal at South Jackson

Dr. Allison Approved As New Assistant Principal at South Jackson

Dr. Heather Allison has been approved to serve as the newest assistant principal at South Jackson Elementary School, following a vote by the Jackson County Board of Education on Thursday night.

Allison will become the second assistant principal at SJES, joining current assistant principal Dr. Em Smith Headley and principal Amy Adams. Allison currently serves as an Early Intervention Program teacher and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Coordinator at South Jackson Elementary, positions she has held since 2018. Allison has served as an educator at SJES since 2011.

“We are excited for Dr. Allison to join the leadership team at South. She has the biggest heart and strongest passion for our school community,” Adams said. “Dr. Allison has played a pivotal role at South Jackson for many years, and in this new position, she will empower students, impact families, and support teachers. This is truly a great day for SJ!”

“I am incredibly honored and excited to be given the opportunity to serve alongside Mrs. Adams and Dr. Headley,” Allison said. “Working with individuals who are dedicated, passionate, and motivated is both inspiring and humbling. Having been part of the South Jackson community since 2011, I consider it a privilege to continue serving our students, families, and staff in this new capacity.

“South has been my home away from home. I have grown as an educator and made memorable connections with many outstanding individuals. I look forward to contributing to the momentum as we strive for even greater achievements together. I am blessed to be a part in making every day a great day at SJ.”

Allison has a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia, a Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Piedmont College, a Specialist’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College and a Doctoral Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University. In addition to her duties at South Jackson, Allison serves as an adjunct instructor at Liberty where she mentors doctoral candidates through the applied research process.

Allison and her husband, Ricky, live in Athens with their dog, Boogie.
