EJCHS Earns Blue Ribbon Beacon School Status

East Jackson Comprehensive High School has been awarded Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Beacon status following a validation process, the organization announced Thursday. The confirmation status for EJCHS is the result of the school meeting nine performance areas of high-performing schools required to earn the Beacon Status, the second-highest honor bestowed by the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence organization. 

"We are honored by this designation," EJCHS Principal Dr. Matt Stratemeyer said. "This is a testament to the hard work being put in each day by our students and staff to build a highly successful high school. We look forward to continuing to work with the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence organization to earn the Lighthouse distinction, the highest honor they award."

Among the criteria that was required to be met included student focus and support, school organization and culture, challenging standards and curriculum, active teaching and learning, technology and integration, professional community, leadership and education vitality, school, family and community partnerships and indicators of success. In addition to the nine performance areas, stakeholder surveys, interviews and a school visit were conducted as part of the accreditation process. 

East Jackson Comprehensive joins East Jackson Elementary School as Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. East Jackson Elementary earned the Lighthouse distinction in October.
