EJES Named Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School
COMMERCE — East Jackson Elementary School has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School.
A Blue Ribbon Lighthouse certification follows a thorough assessment that provides insight into a school's strengths. Schools are assessed on a multitude of categories that include: school culture and climate; challenging curriculum; active teaching and learning; technology integration; professional community; leadership and education vitality; school, family and community partnerships; and indicators of success.
"I am honored we were able to achieve such a prestigious award," East Jackson Elementary School principal Allyson Pennington said. "We have all known East Jackson Elementary was a fantastic place, and it is nice that the hard work that happens every day by our staff is recognized on a national level."
The Blue Ribbon Lighthouse certification lasts five years for East Jackson Elementary School, during which time it will have the opportunity to collaborate on exemplary practices with other schools on a local, regional, and national level, as well as providing mentoring and networking to schools seeking guidance and assistance in school improvement initiatives.
