Malcolm Mitchell, Georgia Reads Visits HES
Former University of Georgia and New England Patriots Super Bowl champion Malcolm Mitchell, now the Georgia Reads Literacy Coach for the state, visited Heroes Elementary School on Wednesday.
Mitchell's visit was part of the Jackson County School System being recognized with a Georgia Reads Community Award grant, which the system was honored with last week at the Georgia State Capitol. Mitchell visited with students from HES and read his book, Hey Georgia, to all second and third grade students in a mass assembly inside the school's gymnasium.
Mitchell spent time with students throughout the day, visiting the cafeteria and playground, even partaking in some recess activities.
