West Jackson Elementary School Announces New Principal

At a called Jackson County School System Board of Education meeting, Lori King was named the new principal of West Jackson Elementary School. King currently serves as the Assistant Principal of Instruction at WJES and has worked in education for more than twenty years.

“Lori King is a proven leader at West Jackson Elementary School,” said Dr. Philip Brown, the incoming JCSS Superintendent. “She is committed to the students and has a passion for the school’s STEAM vision. I know she is excited to build upon the great work already happening at their school.”

King has a specialist degree in educational leadership and curriculum from the University of Alabama. She also received her master’s from the University of Oklahoma and bachelor’s from the University of Georgia.

King is married to Ray King. They reside in Jackson County with their two children, Bailey (13), and Brooke (11).

The need for a new principal was created when JCSS announced the promotion of Dr. Amity Hardegree to Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services and Human Resources.
