BOE Approves School Zone Lines

JEFFERSON — The Jackson County School System’s Board of Education unanimously approved the new school zone lines for the upcoming two academic years.

The lines, which were proposed in October, were designed to accommodate the growth taking place inside Jackson County, and to accommodate the opening of the new Legacy Knoll Middle School and new elementary school.

Legacy Knoll Middle School will  open in August 2023, while the new elementary school will open in August 2024. Legacy Knoll Middle School is located off Legacy Knoll Road and Skelton Road, next to the new Jackson County High School. The new elementary school will be located off Highway 332, near Legacy Knoll and Jackson County High School.

With the approval of the new attendance lines, North Jackson Elementary and the new elementary school will feed directly into Legacy Knoll Middle School. Gum Springs Elementary and West Jackson Elementary will feed directly into West Jackson Middle School. Both west-side middle schools will feed directly into Jackson County High School.

The new approved attendance lines, no east-side school zones were affected.
