Hoschton Huskies Announced As New Mascot

Jackson County's newest high school has its official identity. Hoschton High School and the Jackson County School System announced the new high school cluster will be home to the Huskies mascot.
The system also announced the new school cluster's colors as Husky Blue, Navy Blue, Gray and White. The Husky Blue is a baby-blue color, similar to the University of North Carolina's Carolina Blue.
The Hoschton High School cluster will begin taking shape in August 2027 with the opening of Hoschton High School and Hayes Farm Elementary School. The cluster will also include the existing West Jackson Elementary School, which will undergo a rebranding this summer. Sell’s Mill Middle School will complete the cluster when it opens in August 2028.
The announcement of the logo, mascot and school colors follows a lengthy multi-year process of determining a unique brand for the newest cluster in the state of Georgia. That process included student voting at the end of the 2024-25 school year.
The primary logo for the cluster is the Husky brand mark, with each individual school having a circular logo that separates themselves from the others. Additional logos, including a Huskies script is available as well.
The Jackson County School System announced its plan to build the new cluster of schools in 2024, and moved forward with the project following the passing of a General Obligation Bond and the renewal of E-SPLOST in March 2025. The system announced its new school attendance zones for its west-side schools, to include the new cluster, in September.
Hoschton High School will be under the direction of Melissa Gillespie, who was announced as the principal in March following a three-year stint as the principal of Jackson County High School. Dr. Nicole Matthews, a current assistant principal at West Jackson Elementary School, will serve as the principal of Hayes Farm Elementary School. Matthews was announced as the principal in February and will officially begin her duties with HFES in January.
