Public Relations Home
The JCSS Public Relations Department is responsible for informing the public regarding our school system by sharing communication and content about our students, faculty, staff and schools. The Public Relations Department handles all internal and external communication support for all schools and Central Office departments, while overseeing the JCSS Foundation, Partners in Education, system-wide branding, family and community engagement, media inquires and open records requests.
The Jackson County School System Public Relations Department was recognized by the National School Public Relations Association in 2025 for outstanding achievements in public relations. Jackson County's Public Relations Department earned a Golden Achievement Award for its Choose Jackson campaign, and Excellence in Publications and Digital Media for its 2024 Annual Report, its Choose Jackson Marketing Materials and a 2025 District Feature.
JCSS was recognized in October 2024 by being named the Best in Category for the 2024 Annual Report by the Georgia School Public Relations Association, and again in 2025 when it was awarded a Peach Award for excellence in Marketing Communication Campaigns with the Choose Jackson Campaign.

Established in May 2025, the JCSS Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 that is served by a Board
of Advisors comprised of system leaders, community members and parents. The JCSS Foundation is managed by the Director of Public Relations and Communications, and exists to enhance the educational experience throughout the system. The JCSS Foundation awards 14 staff grants and 15 student scholarships each year, in addition to supporting various causes throughout the system and community. All media inquiries into the Jackson County School System, District Office and all 12 of its district schools, should be made through the Public Relations Department by calling 706-224-5928 or sending an email to ehooper@jcss.us.
Media shall not contact any school, nor school personnel without consent from the public relations office. Those covering high school athletics are authorized to contact coaches regarding interviews, only once approved by the athletic directors of those schools.

Limited Public Forum
The Jackson County School System uses social media to provide information about district programs, services, projects, issues, events and activities, to interact with students, parents/guardians, and residents about public issues. We are happy to connect with our community in this way! We do, however, have some guidelines to follow.
JCSS reserves the right, but undertakes no obligation, to remove any comment and block participants if they violate our guidelines, Board policies, or the platform’s terms of service. We will, but undertake no obligation to, delete, hide and, if necessary, report any of the following types of comments:
- personal attacks or threats,
- posts that do not directly relate to the business of the school district,
- profane, pornographic, violent, sexual or obscene language or content,
- engagement in, or the endorsement or promotion of, behavior that is bullying, harassing, intimidating or which constitutes discrimination,
- libelous or defamatory content, as well as posts that impersonate others, or which are misleading or factually erroneous,
- infringement of copyrights or trademarks or the legal ownership rights of any other party,
- commercial endorsements or advertisements (including SPAM),
- confidential information or the privacy rights of others,
- constitute or promote any illegal activity, violation of Board policy, regulation or school rule, or which are reasonably likely to materially disrupt and substantially disrupt the educational environment.
Submissions must also meet the platform’s terms of service and the District encourages all users to use the “report” link in the event they encounter any behavior they believe to be in violation of any of terms of services.
Employees or students who post content to the District’s social media in violation of Board policies, school rules or these Guidelines may be subject to discipline. Community contributed comments or content do not represent the views or opinions of the Jackson County School System, the Board of Education or its employees, and are solely the responsibility of the specific author. We are not responsible for the accuracy of the content or security of websites we do not directly manage or create.
